About Milestone
History
Milestone Therapeutic Services was established in 2007 to address the needs of children ( pediatric physical, occupational, speech and developmental therapy services) and individuals with disabilities in the DC metro area. Since then, Milestone has made a positive impact in the lives of thousands of children and their families. With the support of our dedicated staff, Milestone continues to make maximizing potential and independence our duty and number one priority.
Milestone
In Early Intervention, Milestone’s experienced and licensed physical, occupational, speech-language pathologists, and special educators support parents and caregivers to improve their child’s capacity in everyday routines, focusing on the child’s interests and the family’s goals. Therapists build the confidence and competence of parents and caregivers to enhance the child’s development and learning, using a coaching interaction model that empowers families to become active partners in their child’s therapy and progress.
Therapists in School
Therapists in schools support students’ academic and non-academic goals, focusing on improving academic and overall school-based performance through skilled intervention, adaptive equipment, and/or environmental modifications. Our therapists also provide emotional support and help students develop social and coping skills necessary for successful participation in school and life. They work collaboratively with educators and parents to create a positive learning environment that fosters student success and well-being.
Therapists in the Clinic
We specialize in pediatric physical, occupational, speech, and developmental, therapy services. In the clinic, therapists work one-on-one or in a small group on specific skills to improve gross motor, fine motor, oral motor, language, sensory processing, activities of daily living, and/or executive functioning, enhancing performance and boosting confidence. Therapists in the clinic may also work with clients to address cognitive, perceptual, and behavioral challenges that may impact overall function and quality of life. We use evidence-based practices and techniques to help students achieve their therapy goals, and may collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to care.
